1. TERMS

These terms and conditions explain the terms on which you may use the site to submit proposals for access to research infrastructure via the ISIDORe project. Please read these terms carefully before submitting any content: by submitting a proposal, you indicate that you accept these terms and you agree to abide by them. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the site to make submissions.

2. SERVICE AVAILABILITY

2.1 ISIDORe supports research proposals for funded access to research infrastructure from international scientists from academia and Industry. 

2.2 After submission you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application. Please note that this does not mean that your application has been accepted by us.

3. RESEARCH PROPOSALS

3.1 In order to have access to facilities in the Instruct-ERIC research infrastructure, you must register for an ARIA account and submit a research proposal. ARIA is the online proposal management system developed by Instruct-ERIC, which provides many of our services. Your user profile should be kept up-to-date, e.g. reflecting changes in host laboratory and contact details if you change position.

3.2 Instruct-ERIC’s criteria for evaluation including procedures for appeal are explained in the ISIDORe reviewer guidelines and the moderator guidelines. Contact us if you have further questions.

3.3 By submitting a research proposal, you represent and warrant that you are employed by an accredited scientific organisation and that your research proposal contains only information which is true, accurate and complete.

3.4 By submitting a research proposal via the site, you grant to Instruct a revocable and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, modify, prepare derivative works of and otherwise use and disclose the content for the purposes of evaluating the research proposal and assessing the feasibility of conducting the proposed research at the requested facility. In addition, you grant to Instruct a perpetual and irrevocable licence to store a copy of the research proposal for its records.

3.5 Instruct will use its reasonable endeavours to keep research proposals confidential and will only disclose research proposals to those third parties for whom it considers access reasonably necessary to perform the evaluation described at clause 4.2 or where required by law.

4. RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE (RI) VISITS

4.1 Visiting researcher status does not convey any entitlement to statutory health, nursing care, accident, unemployment or pension cover. It is strongly recommended that visiting researchers should arrange adequate insurance cover prior to traveling.

4.2 The RI management reserve the right to cancel or reschedule visits.

4.3 When using Research Infrastructure (RI) facilities, the visiting researcher shall comply with RI regulations, including health and safety requirements, presented to the researcher at arrival. The visiting researcher shall be subject to the authority of the RI manager.

4.4 The visiting researcher shall treat the RI facilities with due care and protect these against loss or damage.

4.5 The institution hosting an Instruct-ERIC visiting researcher shall bear responsibility for ensuring the agreed work or service is delivered in accord with the regulatory and safe working practises required by the host institution, including ensuring appropriate permissions and training are in place before work commences. Instruct-ERIC shall not be liable for any accidents or infringements arising from a visit. 

4.6 Visiting researcher agrees to publication of scientific results obtained during research infrastructure visits, with acknowledgement of Instruct-ERIC and ISIDORe funding. 

4.7 If approved, visiting researcher may submit reimbursement for travel and accommodation up to the amount agreed with the RI, subject to receipts being submitted, after feedback has been received.

5. ALL SUBMISSIONS

5.1 Where you are required to complete a registration form in order to access restricted parts of the site or specific services, you agree to:

(a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information; and

(b) to maintain and promptly update your ARIA profile to keep it true, accurate, up-to-date and complete.

5.2 If Instruct-ERIC has reasonable grounds to suspect that any information supplied for the purposes of clause 3.1 is untrue, inaccurate, out-of-date or incomplete, Instruct-ERIC reserves the right to suspend or terminate your registration and any access you may have to restricted parts of the site or any and all services.

5.3 Other than the limited licence set out in clauses 4, 5 and 6 (as applicable), Instruct-ERIC acknowledges and agrees that it obtains no right, title or interest from you (or your licensors) under these terms of submission in or to any content that you submit, including any intellectual property rights which may subsist in that content (whether those rights are registered or not, and wherever in the world those rights may exist). You acknowledge and agree that you are responsible for protecting and enforcing those rights and that Instruct has no obligation to do so on your behalf.

5.4 You acknowledge that:

(a) you have received good and valuable consideration in exchange for the applicable licence and that you are not entitled to any further compensation for any use by Instruct of the content in accordance with that licence; and

(b) Instruct may, without notice to you, reject, refuse to use or delete any content at any time where it considers this to be reasonably necessary.

6. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

6.1 You agree to acknowledge ISIDORe and Instruct-ERIC in all publications and presentations arising from research carried out In an Instruct facility via the ISIDORE calls, following instructions and text available here.

7. OPEN ACCESS TO JOURNALS AND REAGENTS

7.1 Instruct strongly advises that all publications arising from research carried out in Instruct centres are deposited within the repository set up by your university or institution. For example University of Oxford employees should upload publications to the Online Research Archive (ORA). French researchers should upload publications to the Hyper Articles en Ligne (HAL) site. If you have questions about repositories please contact the Instruct Hub.

7.2 Users are expected to make available the reagents generated during visits to Instruct centres upon request.

8. DATA MANAGEMENT

9. REDISTRIBUTION OF REAGENTS

9.1 Instruct has established a policy for Distribution and Sharing of Material by both its users and facilities which can be viewed here.

10. PRIVACY POLICY

Personal data relating to your proposal submission will be stored securely according to GDPR regulations and will be used for the purposes of processing your application, peer review, communications and managing the services. Details of the name and home country for successful candidates may be published online at the ISIDORE and the Instruct website, and distributed to Funding bodies on request.
