Applicants for the fellowship should currently be working on a structural biology research project that does not involve NMR spectroscopy but which wouldbenefit from NMR data. The Bio-NMR research infrastructures are located in Berlin, Birmingham, Brno, Florence, Frankfurt, Göteborg, Ljubliana, Lyon, Oxford, Utrecht, and Zürich. Access to both solution and solid-state NMR equipment and expertise is available; details of the NMR facilities can be found at http://www.bio-nmr.net/index.php/access-to-nmr/access-to-nmr. In order to foster transnational communication and collaboration, applicants are expected to visit an NMR infrastructure located in a different country from their home university.
The fellowship will cover the costs of travel to the NMR infrastructure, accommodation and subsistence while at the infrastructure (up to an overall limit of € 5000) and some NMR consumables. Upon completion of the project the student will write a brief report and will be invited to present his work at one of the conferences organized by the Bio-NMR consortium.
Applicants should submit:
1) a brief CV including a short summary of their current research project;
2) a 1-2 page proposal for the NMR project they wish to carry out including the name of the Bio-NMR research infrastructure where they would like to carry out the project;
3) a letter of support from their current supervisor which indicates why NMR will benefit the project.
Applications must be submitted by 5 pm on February 7th 2014 via the following web page (http://www.bio-nmr.net/index.php/networking/short-term-fellowships). Applicants do not need to contact the research infrastructure directly; short-listed proposals will be sent to the relevant NMR infrastructure for approval.
The applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application no later than February 15th 2014. The successful applicant is expected to begin his fellowship no later than April 1st 2014 and to submit the report no later than June 28th 2014.
