Horizon 2020: Israel To Become Associated Country

02-Dec-2013

An agreement has been reached confirming that Israel will be able to participate in Horizon 2020 as an Associated Country. A joint statement by EU High Representative Catherine Ashton and Israeli Minister of Justice Tzipi Livni was release on the 26th of November. The announcement stressed that 'The agreement will allow Israel's scientific community to benefit from one of the most important EU programmes and facilitate its further integration into the European space of research and innovation'.

Israel has been an Associated Country to the EU research framework programmes since 1996. Associated Countries contribute financially to EU programmes so that they can participate on exactly the same basis as EU countries.
