The Department of Protein Evolution at the Max-Planck-Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen is seeking to fill a Senior Postdoctoral Position in Protein Structure.
Determined candidates should hold a PhD in the natural sciences and have a proven record in the application of cryo-electron-microscopy (essential) and crystallography (desired) to the high-resolution structure determination of biological macromolecules. An interest in membrane proteins and cell surfaces is greatly welcomed. The position is intended to provide the department with cutting-edge competence in protein structure determination. It is suitable to start an independent group; independent publication and grant acquisition are encouraged. Their department studies broadly the evolution of proteins by combining computational and experimental approaches, including bioinformatics, protein biochemistry, microbiology, and structural biology. A particular focus is currently emerging in the area of transmembrane signal transduction. The working language of the department is English.
