RA position in RNA biochemistry/structural biology

Waltham, United States
Application deadline: 28 Feb 2021

About Skyhawk
Skyhawk is committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small molecule therapeutics that
correct RNA splicing. We use our novel SkySTARTM platform (Skyhawk Small molecule Therapeutics for
Alternative splicing of RNA) to develop drug candidates directed to targets for some of the world’s most
intractable diseases including cancer, neurological conditions, and other “undruggable” targets against a
wide range of conditions.

Research Associate, Structural Biology
The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary research team developing novel small molecule therapeutics that target and correct RNA mis-expression. You will perform both basic and specialized biochemistry and biophysics techniques and a willingness to learn new techniques, such as biomolecular nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

Responsibilities:

Learn to prepare NMR samples and record/analyze NMR spectra of nucleic acids, proteins and small molecules.
• Prepare samples for biochemical and biophysical investigations (EMSA/CD/MS/ITC/MST/SPR/DLS).
• Interpret data in collaboration with members of the Structural Biology team and present results to support our drug discovery platform.
• Perform lab and office duties such as ordering reagents, organizing inventories and keeping experimental records.
• Contribute intellectually to the structure-based drug discovery platform and collaborate with internal and external partners from other disciplines such as RNA biology, chemistry, computational biology and bioinformatics.

Qualifications:

• BSc/MSc in biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry or a related field.
• 0-2 years biochemistry/biophysics training and/or work experience in the pharmaceutical industry or academic research.
• Experience working with biomolecules required (nucleic acids and/or proteins), NMR experience is preferred but not required.
• Excellent planning and communication skills, including ability to multitask and set priorities.
• Strong team player, high-energy and positive personality.
• Passionate about developing new drugs for patients with unmet medical needs.
