Postdoctoral Training Fellow - Cryo-Electron Microscopy and Biophysics/Biochemistry, ICR London

The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London, United Kingdom
Application deadline: 08 Aug 2019

A position is available for a Postdoctoral Training Fellow to join the research team led by Dr Sebastian Guettler at the Division of Structural and Cancer Biology at the Institute of Cancer Research. The Guettler laboratory focusses on the elucidation of signal transduction mechanisms relevant to the function of cancer cells, in particular the Wnt/b-catenin network and telomere homeostasis and their control by poly (ADP-ribosyl)ation. The group takes a multi-disciplinary approach that combines structural biology, both by X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy, biochemistry, biophysics and functional studies in mammalian cells.

The Cancer Research UK-funded Postdoctoral Training Fellow will analyse the function of poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase (PARP) enzymes by using a combination of cryo-electron microscopy, biophysical and biochemical approaches. The emphasis will be on the structural characterisation of proteins/protein complexes by cryo-EM and the exploration of hypotheses raised by structural findings using purified proteins in biochemical assays. The position will coincide with a major expansion of cryo-EM capabilities at the ICR in 2019/20, which will provide a state-of-the-art infrastructure and outstanding research and training opportunities.
