Post-doctoral position in Cryo-EM

Birkbeck, University of London, London, United Kingdom
Application deadline: 12 Dec 2019

A Wellcome Trust-funded postdoctoral position in cryo-EM is available in the laboratory of Dr Anthony Roberts. The Roberts Lab is investigating the microtubule-based motor proteins that drive the construction and signalling functions of cilia/flagella. This project involves combining multi-protein expression, in vitro reconstitution, and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to elucidate their mechanisms. For further information, please see Toropova et al. 2019 Nature Structural & Molecular Biology and the research group website.

The Roberts Lab is part of the vibrant scientific environment at the Institute of Structural Molecular Biology (ISMB) at Birkbeck/UCL, with state-of-the-art cryo-EM facilities.

The candidate will have, or shortly expect to receive, a PhD in structural biology or a related area and have an understanding of modern structural biology methods. Prior experience in cryo-EM, multi-protein expression, and/or in vitro reconstitution would be an advantage for this role, but is not essential.
