A three year postdoctoral position is available within the EIPOD (EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdocs) scheme to investigate how Slit mediates interactions with both DSCAM and Robo to regulate neuronal guidance using structural and biophysical approaches. Proteins will be produced in the Meijers lab at EMBL Hamburg using human embryonic kidney cells, and structural investigations will be done at the McCarthy lab at EMBL Grenoble. Complementary cell biology and light microscopy experiments will be done to verify the structure-derived hypotheses in the Schmucker lab at the VIB in Leuven and Ries lab at EMBL-Heidelberg respectively.
The ideal candidate has a background in protein purification and structure determination, with an interest in learning neurobiology and light microscopy techniques.
