Postdoc/PhD opportunities, Centre of Membrane Proteins and Receptors, University of Nottingham

University of Nottingham, Notthingham, United Kingdom
Application deadline: 12 Jan 2018

The group of Prof. Dmitry Veprintsev at the Centre of Membrane Proteins and Receptors, University of Nottingham is looking for PhD and postdoc candidates.

The overall research direction of the lab is developing approaches for incorporation of protein and systems dynamics of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) into drug discovery. The projects will range from applying protein engineering to map allosteric connections in GPCRs and their signalling partners, to structural studies of ligand-receptor complexes, to systems pharmacology of signalling, to linking structural and pharmacological properties of ligands with receptor structure and signalling using advanced computational techniques.

The ideal postdoc candidate will have background in chemistry, biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology or pharmacology, a strong publication record and experience in some of the following areas: cloning, mammalian cell culture, recombinant protein production and purification, especially membrane proteins, biophysics, structural methods (crystallography, CryoEM, NMR), data analysis, process modelling or structural bioinformatics.

Experience with GPCRs, ligand binding assays and FRET- or BRET-based biosensors would be an advantage.

The ideal PhD candidate would have exposure to some of the methods mentioned above and a strong desire to learn and develop new biophysical techniques applicable to membrane proteins.

The University of Nottingham hosts one of the world’s leading centres in GPCR signalling and pharmacology and offers a very collaborative environment.
