Umea University, Umea, Sweden
Application deadline: 31 Jan 2020

A postdoctoral fellowship position, funded by the Kempe Foundations, is available for a highly motivated cell biologist, with the dedication to work with correlative light and cryoelectron microscopy (cryo-CLEM).

This project is focused on resolving the architecture of cytoskeleton and protein complexes in associated with membranes in cells. The aim is to make use of cryo-CLEM, and to punch the future development of florescence imaging under cryo conditions, cryo lamella preparation from cell culture and cryo electron tomography.

You will work in collaboration between the research group of Linda Sandblad associated to Molecular Infection Medicine in Sweden (MIMS), Umeå Core facility for Electron Microscopy (UCEM) and SciLifeLab cryo-EM facility at the Department of Chemistry at Umeå University.

Qualified applicants should have a PhD degree, or be about to receive a PhD, as well as documented experience in one, or several, fields related to the project such as; cell and molecular biology, structural biology, electron microscopy, 3D visualisation and image processing. Candidates must be able to carry out independent scientific research work and to write scientific reports and manuscripts. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, organisational skills, and ability to work collaborative and together with other lab members, facility staff and other facility users, as well as on genuine enthusiasm for the research area and methodology.
