Jobs in Structural Biology and Related Fields

PhD (postdoc) position available in the Paulino group

University of Groningen, Groningen, Netherlands
Application deadline: 01 Jun 2021

The Paulino group has an open PhD position (possibly also PostDoc) available to join their team at the University of Groningen, NL.

Their research is focused on elucidating the structure-function relationship and the mechanism of action of membrane transporters. In their interdisciplinary approach we employ cryo-EM and complement our findings with comprehensive functional studies.

They are specifically looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a keen interest in structural biology and transport mechanisms, preferably with prior experience in cryo-EM and/or membrane proteins, to join (among others) their studies on the osmoregulatory ABC transporter OpuA. This work is shared with the lab of Bert Poolman. See recent work

The Paulino group is embedded within the membrane enzymology unit where they share their labs with the renowned groups of Bert Poolman and Dirk Slotboom. You will benefit from the strong interdisciplinary interaction in a supportive, international and diverse environment. As the head of the cryo-EM unit you will be thoroughly trained in sample preparation, microscope operation and image processing and have access to fully equipped and successfully running EM facilities.

Further details, other opportunities and the application form can be found here

While the vacancy in the group is primarily a PhD position, experienced postdocs with a track-record in cryo-EM and membrane proteins are welcome to apply and send a direct email: c.paulino@rug.nl

Application deadline is June 1, tentative start October 2021.
