A tenure-track research lectureship has been created in the general area of macromolecular structure, with a particular focus on the linkup between neutron scattering approaches and state-of-the-art atomic resolution cryo-electron microscopy. The post is funded jointly by Keele University and the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), and will be located in Grenoble.

The appointee will form an integral part the of cryo-EM team that will support the operation of a newly installed Titan Krios microscope that is located at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). The cryo-EM team is led by the ESRF and also includes scientists from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the French Institute of Structural Biology (IBS). The current position will constitute the ILL component of this team. 

The post-holder will, in addition to playing a key role in supporting the user programme of the microscope, have a major focus on exploiting the synergy between neutron scattering and cryo-EM, particularly for the study of large biological complexes. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching in the Life Sciences as well as carry out forefront research.
