A position is available within the Structural Biology program at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at Uppsala University, where current research covers structural and functional studies of a wide range of fundamental biological processes ranging from protein synthesis, metal homeostasis, enzyme catalysis, and protein evolution to chaperone directed assembly of spider silk and other complex structures, and antibiotic resistance. They are now looking for a lecturer to complement and broaden both the expertise and research scope within the program.
The successful candidate is expected to perform research and teaching in the area of experimental structural biology and administration. The Associate Professor will teach at basic and advanced levels in subject areas related to cell and molecular biology, with a focus on structural biology. Teaching duties include course responsibility, course administration and supervision of second- and third-cycle students. Administrative tasks relevant for the department and faculty may be part of the duties as well. The Associate Professor is also expected to keep abreast of developments within the subject area and developments in the wider community that are significant for work at the university. The duties of the Associate Professorship also include being in charge of development and oversight of the planned local cryo-EM facility and associated teaching and information activities.
