Applications are invited for an experienced postdoctoral protein production scientist to join the ARUK Oxford Drug Discovery Institute (ODDI) and contribute and/or lead drug discovery projects. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work at the interface between academic and pharmaceutical research and play a role in discovering new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases causing dementia.


Applicants must hold a PhD/DPhil or equivalent and have expertise in protein biochemistry and molecular biology, such as cloning and mutagenesis. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and experience of expressing human proteins in bacterial and eukaryotic expression systems. You will be primarily responsible for producing and purifying proteins in large scale in support of assay development/screening for a range of projects. An aptitude for trouble-shooting technical problems and precise approach to record keeping are essential. In addition, you might have some experience in leading early stage projects by designing protein production strategies as required, and the ability/knowledge to coordinate other project activities to advance projects to the next milestone. You must have the confidence and ability to communicate and collaborate effectively.


This full-time post is available for a fixed-term to 31 August 2020, in the first instance, and is available to start immediately. The postholder will be an integrated member of the ODDI, reporting to the Head of Biology in the ODDI, and will be based in NDM Research Building and Old Road Campus Research Building, Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Drive, Oxford.
