Welcoming the Astbury Biostructure Laboratory to the UK's Instruct Centre of Excellence

On 25 November 2019, the Astbury Biostructure Laboratory will be formally launched as an Instruct-ERIC facility. To welcome the Astbury Biostructure Laboratory to Instruct-UK, Instruct-ERIC and the Astbury Centre are hosting a launch event at Nexus at the University of Leeds.

Join us for a one-day event, exploring the advances in technology and infrastructure that are revolutionising the way in which we interpret molecular and cellular functions, and find out how integrative approaches are connecting atomic-level structure with functionality at the cellular level.

The launch event will showcase the electron microscopy, NMR and mass spectrometry technologies and expertise of the Astbury Centre, and provides a chance to discover the funded research opportunities that are available through Instruct - including machine access, training, internships and R&D pilot project awards. As well as talks from experts in structural biology, there will be an opportunity to tour the facilities on offer through Instruct, and to ask your scientific questions directly to the specialists.

A full programme and details of the event location can be found below.

The Astbury Centre

The Astbury Centre brings together scientists from across the University of Leeds, fostering an interdisciplinary approach to understand the molecular basis of life. The Centre has outstanding expertise and research infrastructure in chemical biology, biophysics and all major techniques in structural, molecular biology. Its members address major questions associated with biological mechanisms in areas as diverse as membrane proteins, protein folding and assembly, viruses and motor proteins, and offer broad expertise to address fundamental biological questions.
