Introduction             Agenda            Video Greetings           About Instruct-ERIC

Introduction

On 16 September 2020, a virtual event was held to celebrate the achievements of Instruct-ERIC in the time since achieving European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) status in 2017.

The event celebrates the achievements of Instruct-ERIC, recognising the hard work and commitment of the consortium, staff, supporters and users, in the wider context of the successful European Research Infrastructure landscape.

Through selected talks by our eminent colleagues and a panel discussion, we look ahead to an exciting future for Instruct-ERIC and Research Infrastructures in Europe, exploring new collaborative opportunities that will enable important scientific and technological developments.

The full recording of the event can be viewed below.

About Instruct-ERIC

Instruct-ERIC is the single point of access to technology and expertise for structural biology research. Through its specialist research centres in Europe, Instruct-ERIC offers funded research visits, training, internships and R&D awards. By promoting integrative methods, Instruct-ERIC enables excellent science and technological development for the benefit of all life scientists.

The importance of structural biology

Structural biology is a powerful tool to understand how cells work. It reaches for the limits of our understanding of biomolecular structure and function and reveals how these can be modified. Such fundamental knowledge is increasingly important for the development of new therapeutics to meet the challenges of an ageing society, universal health coverage and global pandemics.

The role of Instruct-ERIC

Instruct-ERIC is a dynamic, distributed infrastructure of research centres across Europe, providing peer-reviewed access to state-of-the-art, structural biology technologies.

Instruct Centres help to develop the next generation of instrumentation in partnership with industry, and provide training and internships to support structural biologists in developing expertise in cutting-edge methodologies. The services offered by Instruct-ERIC are available to academic and industry researchers worldwide, and funding is available to academic researchers from Instruct Member countries.
